Last spring my old Garmin gave me the "Blue Screen of Death" in several places heading back up the ditch. Of course this was never in the better places. My wife used the Droid as a CP for these. It worked well and when we got to Charleston I bought a new Garmin.
The Plan2Nav also did quite well in the Abacos where my old Garmin wasn't too happy. I had bought a chip for coverage but on the GPSMAP 192C the picture was in black and white. This is fine except most of the depths are contour lines and hard to distinguish from land contours. A phone call to Garmin revealed that there was a software upgrade for the 192 and it would restore the colors and full usability. It only took six weeks to get the upgrade chip (24 hours to Nassau, 6 weeks to clear customs and arrive in Marsh Harbor). Thankfully I always have paper charts on board.
I have several friends who use Plan2Nav on tablets and iPads and are happy.
