Thats really good..the unintended consequence

being that pressure will be put on insurance companies to extend the 50% haul out credit to storm surge as well as named hurricanes. Of course, as most, during Sandy I was in the water and the surge never topped the 15 foot pilings in the fairly modern dock at my marina. I had free haul out but the yard manager counseled me not to do it unless he could pull the mast, as well, urgeing me to stay put with extra lines. A few days latter his advise became system wide policy at Brewers Yards--no haul of sailboat without mast out, as well. As it turn out there was no damage to any boat in the water and one sailboat that never was launched in the spring and was stored with mast up fell over into its neighbor with minor damage.
