... “A two person job, one on the wheel, the other down below at the Rudder and Steering components. Turn the wheel all the way over until it hits the stop, then apply +/- 30 lbs of pressure hard over. One cable will be tensioned, the other will be loose. With the loose cable, try and remove it from the Idler Sheave, any other sheave and the Quadrant. If the cable can come off any of these, tighten the adjustment nuts a couple turns and try again. Keep tightening until you can no longer remove the cable from any sheave or quadrant. Then repeat for other side. Go back & forth again. There should be no lag and no delay when starting to turn … the Quadrant & Rudder should turn immediately when the wheel begins its turn. You do not want the cables bar tight”.
