I purchased a 24" Insignia LED TV/DVD combo player. The power cord is a regular 120V plug with a switching adapter that outputs 12V. The unit uses 3A at 12 volts.
I can use this as is, plugged into my Inverter. But it would be simpler and more efficient to skip the inverter and keep it all at 12V.
Someone on the Insignia website support site asked about using 12V and the reply from Insignia was "the tolerance is 10.8V to 12.8V for the NS-24ED200NA14. Keep in mind that use of any power cable other than the one supplied by Insignia will void the TV's one year warranty."
My solar panels boost the ship's voltage higher than 12.8V. Would I be asking for trouble if I make up a 12V power cord for the TV? Better to stick with the inverter?
Thanks
