I worked on the Cangarda in the mid 1950s in Rochester New York with the owner Mr. Smith. I was on the dock looking at the ship when I was invited aboard, next thing I had a part time summer job. I was paid with a place to sleep and meals, my bunk was in the forward section crews quarters. I remember the galley was under the forward house, and the dining area was the forward house. It also had a dumb waiter from the galley to the dining area above. that summer Mr. Smith and I stripped and re varnished the forward house. At that time their was still some of the brass work that had gray paint from her time in the Canadian navy. As a young man she gave me a million fond memories, I'm glad to see she still survives.
