I've finally broken down and decided to install RF in FRIHET. I'll be using a FURLEX 50s furler. Among the various estimates for building a 115% genoa, my favorite is Sobstad, who has made sails for two previous boats for me.

Question: Sobstad is proposing a RF jib of 7.3 oz high mod dacron with three vertical battens. I confess that I'm unfamiliar with using vertical battens in a RF jib, and 7.3 seems a bit heavy for the cloth.

Can anyone comment, or enlighten me? I admit to being a mostly hank-on man until now.
