Sad news, the wonderful writer Farley Mowat has passed at 92...

Most sailors probably know him from THE BOAT THAT WOULDN'T FLOAT... But I was first introduced to him as a boy reading GREY SEAS UNDER, followed by THE SERPENT'S COIL, and those gripping stories of the offshore salvage business still remain my favorites...

He is survived by his wife Claire, a notable writer in her own right... Her wonderful book THE OUTPORT PEOPLE is a must read for anyone visiting Newfoundland, and wants to gain an appreciation for the life lived in the remote outports along the south coast, before the days of resettlement ...

The guy was a Canadian national treasure, what a life he lived...
