We have a laptop PC tied into Winlink via Iridium Satphone to do email and GRIBs. Other than airtime it's completely free. I'd love to also be able to do this on my wife's MacBook Air, both as a backup and to give us the option to eventually migrate completely to Macs. Unfortunately Winlink is tailored for PCs. I am considering setting up a UUPLUS account for the email service and using Saildocs for the weather data. But I still need a GRIB viewer for the Mac and there don't seem to be many available (unless you buy some pricy software as part of a package from other service providers). Using Google I have found both 'GRIB view' and 'Zygrib,' both European companies, that appear to offer free GRIB viewer software. Does anyone have experience with either? Someone told me they didn't think the Zygrib had been fully developed for Macs or something to that effect.
We may just go ahead and see if we can get one of those to work, but it's been somewhat of a surprise that there aren't more mainstream GRIB viewers for Macs available.
