On the heels of the winter from hell, it's been a cold, wet long spring here on the coast of Maine. I pulled the cover off yesterday and it was good to see sunlight on the boat after 7 months in hibernation( iphone-thumb in frame-shot). The frame that stands up to Maine winter gales.
Launching's are late this year, the harbor is less than half full. Right on the harbor edge, I'll still have many launchings to watch from deck in the next couple weeks.
I asked Ed, a local hauler, how the season was going. "I've had a lot of cancellations. Wishful thinkers pencil in-fight the weather and lose, and then call to cancel", he said.
Is that a problem, I asked?
"Not really. I start pulling some boats out for winter in July,... anyway,...and I'm still launching a few in August. Makes no difference to me. I'm gonna put em in, and I'm gonna pull em out..."
I've yet to meet a boat hauler that sails.
