If you care about security I'd recommend iPhone over android unless you're very technical. Android is on many more offerings including some larger "phablet" (phone-tablet) styles, but 98% of all mobile device exploits are on android OS.

Also if you do go Apple you may want to wait until the iPhone 6 comes out. Very soon.
