Interesting evening

The weather has been very fall like in the last week, cool temps in the mid-60's during the day, lots of puffy clouds coming in off the lake. Needless to say, we are all following the local weather guessers trying to get some boating in, yesterday was no different. The forecast was for moderate winds from the N NE, 10-20, same puffy cloud cover rolling in, possible showers, waves 3-5' which is just about small craft advisory. I got a call from my dock neighbor about 6:45 last night saying that I might want to come down to the club, it was blowing 30, gusting to 60 and they had their hands full trying to secure boats. Sure enough, there were boats hitting everything, the winds had raised the lake level at least a foot, the ramps "down" to the floating docks were actually level, the lines tied to the 4-point tie posts were now all slack. A small group was going up and down the docks doing their best to take care of things. I put on our storm lines to double up the normal dock lines we use, all was good. Just about that time a Canadian visitor arrived on a moderate sized powerboat, probably 30' or so. They were visibly shaken, said the last 3 miles they had waves as high as their radar arch.

Rain and thunderstorms predicted for the upcoming weekend...............again.
