Not missing the Islander at this point...

The PO of the Gulfstar hadn't done much in the way of upgrades in the past 10-12 years. He cruised it south in 2000/2001 or so. Really only sailed it locally in Ct. since then, hadn't even launched in 2 years.

Our investment to get a bigger/nicer boat was pretty minimal, fortunately being "in the biz" makes it affordable to upgrade systems. New Lewmar Ocean 46ST's going on this weekend, I'm adding a B & G Zeus 7", broadband radar, autopilot and Triton wind/depth pkg. this fall with lots more upgrades coming up.

The admiral is much more enthusiastic about this boat than the Islander, so that is a good thing, the u-shaped galley, huge icebox, nav station, more stowage all make life aboard more comfortable.

This Gulfstar draws 4' 8". She tracks well and is very responsive given her 19,500 disp. I don't think I'll be taking her round the buoys but she is comfy. The beer stays really cold!
