We tied up to the public wharf in Grand Bank just ahead of the Atlantic Pursuit, a 180 foot fishing trawler that was put out of commission in 2006 by a rogue wave on the Grand Banks. The wave destroyed the pilothouse and the boat had to be towed back to Grand Bank. It was recently purchased for $1 million but refit work hasn’t yet begun.
I was in Grand Bank about five years ago and liked it but didn’t stay long. This time we’ve seen more of the town. The more we see, the more I like it. Unfortunately we missed, by one day, the week long festival that just ended here. The finale was a dance on the decks of the Atlantic Pursuit.
