Tie down your ladders

An OVNI 49 was hauled near us today, and while in the travel lift, being pressure washed, the owner fell off and suffered serious fractures.

Seems the ladder he was using was not tied ot the boat, and when he stepped on the top rung, it fell, landing him head first on the concrete from about 11 feet up.

A sad demonstration of the need to secure ladders any more than about 2 feet high. Let's all remember this as layup season approaches.

Kudos to the local emergency services. The ambulace tech who showed up took one look and ordered a chopper in to airlift the victim to a mainland hospital about 15 miles away. No time lost going to a local island hospital or consulting a local doctor. The ambulance tech here in Norway seems to be able to call a chopper on his own.
We have no such service at home in Quebec.
