I'd suspect that maybe your stuff was affected by a near strike EMF, or perhaps you have some corrosion making a connection marginal. I'd check ground connections first.

Also, your radio should be able to function without GPS. You should review the manual and settings menus -- maybe you just have to tell it not to expect the connection.
