how bad a time you had it. GLAD you made it out OK!!
It seems like the other boats are always some of the problem. After Marty, marina de La Paz set up a lot of pilings (with no docks on them) on the west side. It was boats that broke free from another marina on that side that came down on the marina. Jill and I, and a few others, joked (only half joking) that they were not pilings, they were "boat shredders".
When we were in Bahia De Los Angeles with about 15 or 20 other boats, we had about 2 days to prep. We had a meeting and we ALL went around to each boat, LIKE YOU! Two of the boats had divers that dove on each and every anchor to insure they were set well, and took a GPS reading. We had out about 250 Ft of chain. Had the second anchor set to drop from the cockpit, didn't have to use it. Dinks were also sunk, or filled with sand/water/rocks in ditches on shore way back up the area. We were lucky as it was a near miss and no damage took place. We all had a party after. But it was HOT and buggy after the wind went away. I was also short on power as we had even taken down our solar panels, AND, wouldn't you know it, JUST outside of BLA, as we were heading in I caught a Dorado! So we had a fridge full and shared a bunch.
Back in San Francisco, in a marina we were in, a roller furling came loose in about 20 Kts of wind. It was a VERY DANGEROUS event!!! The lines were whipping around and a knot in one was capable of some severe damage! Took 4 of us to control it. I can't imagine your efforts on that boat.
Each time something like this takes place, I hope good things can come out of it!
