Nobody today has to tolerate the inaccuracies and lack of reliability in celestial, visual triangulation, or ded-reckoning (ded is short for deductive, not dying).... and you can't fix lack of available sights or poor clock accuracy with a wrench either. Yes I get it that it's good to know as fallback, and might even be a fun challenge to try to match plot accuracy against electronic references.
BTW I'm amazed the charts from 100 years ago are as accurate as they are. It's a testament to the skill of those people.
