Ocracoke is one of my favorite spots on that part of the coast. The pics show the fleet tied up at the National Park Service dock, which is as good as any marina- power and water are right there. With the federal Golden Age pass the cost is about $10/night, or $20 without. There are a couple of marinas near by, but at 3 times the price. The harbor also has a large anchorage that can accommodate dozens of boats.
But it all shuts down (not the docks but the town) by November 1. I went the first week in November a few years ago. Nothing, not SMcNally's, nor any of the restaurants near the water were open. I had to walk to Howards a mile or so away for a beer. So go May to October, but not before or after.
