Apparently high winds from the back side of the storm that swept through So Cal broke several boats free from moorings in Avalon.

Two lives were lost as well as "at least" 4 boats.

Avalon is normally in the lee of Catalina Island, but as the winds were from off shore vice onshore, from the mainland, Avalon took a huge wind/wave hit.
