Took the granddaughter ice skating yesterday. Figured I'd rent skates and skate along just like old times (used to play intra mural hockey in college). Laced up, stepped onto the ice, and WoW! Over to the rail around the side of the rink with my ankles shaking and my knees not knowing where to go - I'd lost it all. There I was, a guy that used to defend skating backwards, unable to skate forwards. After an hour or so taking it easy and careful, I was finally able to make it around the rink on my own steam. But I quit while I was ahead and am anxious to try it again - going Saturday to check out a pair of skates on Craiglist.
