interesting interviews on the local news last night

Not exactly sailing related. The local news was interviewing growers in our area yesterday, they are saying that they have lost 100% of the more fragile types of wine grapes due to the extended and severe cold and about 50% of the concord grapes. They also figure that the cold has killed off 100% of the peach crop this year and roughly 50% of apples and cherries.

It should be interesting next week when the temps are predicted to moderate. Temperature today (NOT wind chill) is supposed to be 33* below average. They are predicting a high of 3*, it was -8* at my house again this morning. We have been regularly breaking records set in the 1800's.
