Fla East Coast prided themselves on returning empty's to THEIR tracks to not have to pay fees on other lines trackage.
They'd often run hundreds of empty gondolas south, to return to their own trackage
But this time of year, we'd see hundreds and hundreds of gondolas, filled to the top with snow, gradually melting along the tracks as they rolled south. Seems they had worked out a contract with northern cities, to haul away the snow, which by the time they got to Miami, was simply melted water, drizzled along the tracks.
Seemed like excellent business sense to me
