Bronze or Marelon thru-hull & Seacock ? ....

… I'm replacing the 30 year-old bronze 1.5" thru-hull that services the overboard discharge on our 1986 Tartan 40 (the bedding has started to weep). The original set up is a Groco bronze thru-hull, with simple locking nut on the inside of the Hull, then a bronze street 90 threaded to that, then a Groco 1.5" bronze ball-valve, then bronze hose barb. This all sits in the middle of a 1" thick fiberglass reinforced pad in the hull in the V-berth. I'll replace this with either a bronze thru-hull … and bronze Groco Flanged Adaptor Base, or a Groco Seacock with base & flange. Or I may go with the Marelon thru-hull and their Seacock w/base & flange. I have a bunch of Marelon ball valves here & there, no problems with them over the years, but none at thru-hull locations. I like the light weight, but I'm uncertain about the Marelon … Should I have any concern about using the Marelon ? Thanks, cheers, John
