You could get a slip or mooring through Brewers Hawthorne Cove. Or if that seems pricey (I don't know), talk to the Salem Harbormaster about a mooring. There is a water taxi/launch service available on a per-trip basis. Salem might be more protected with more services. There's a train to Boston's North Station ( 30 min) and the Salem Ferry (pier next to the marina), which is 45 minutes and drops you in Boston near the Aquarium. If you were going to the airport, you could arrange a ride through North Shore Shuttle (1-800-bedriven or bedriven.com), which could also track your return flight and pick you up. And spending a day or so, or looking for a nice place to have dinner before you leave and when you return, would be a whole lot more interesting in Salem.
