If you do take it a shop, you can get them to spray them since you have them disassembled!

I'd used exterior grade (w/ UV inhibitor) on at least the last few coats.
Spraying will be easier, quicker, and provide a nicer result.
I think the Larry's suggestion is a good one.
Are you going to varnish the bung-holes; or are the pieces surfaced screwed; or, ???
