Dinghy maintenance: Horrors, every wooden boat owners nightmare, I have worms!
In Response To: Making room in the shop ()

EVE, our $300(materials) Nutshell Pram, now 22 years old, is showing her age.

In repairing a plank joint with a new scarf of plywood - starboard, I noticed some odd little holes in another scarfed patch from years ago on the port side. These joints where the bottom meets the first plank take lots of abrasion from dragging the dinghy up on rocks all season long. I'm guessing the paint wears off and the soft plywood core of the patches are an easy-in for worms(I don't see the bore holes elsewhere). The holes don't go through(!), but the situation, as is,... is not sustainable.

So,...I'll sand both areas down a bit and put on 4" glass tape to slow the abrasion. That will also keep the worms out, I hope. EVE has to service us for at least another 10 years.
