Since we no longer have our boat I put together a kind of navigation center on the wall near the kitchen. Video for the front door, a multi thermometer device to monitor temperatures in different areas, a weather station, etc. Since I had our backup wind transducer I purchased an ST50 on Ebay and installed the transducer 10 feet above the roof. Yes, the weather station (Davis) has wind point and speed but it's a 2.5 second update and I'm used to seeing a continuous wind readout. I don't like the two and a half seconds between updates. Davis says that it's irrelevant to have a continuous readout but I disagree, at least for me. (the E & W have fallen off. I need to stick them back on)
It works great in the house as stupid as it might be but it reminds me of the boat we no longer own. When you face the wall and the readout you face exactly south. You can look at it and it points to where the wind is coming from, just like the boat.
What I don't understand is that the needle is on or near the bow for most of the time. Like the house is always beating to weather. What's up with that?
