Al, have you tried speaking with a supervisor about a reduced replacement cost? I can understand them not wanting to cover physical damage but the cost of the physical card is less than $25, and the value of their product is in the data which you've purchased and registered with them. IMHO it would be fair to pay half price or less for a replacement card, as a registered user. I suggest you try escalating to a manager who's empowered with the discretion to deviate from "policy", if you haven't already. Let them know you're a loyal customer etc.
