Racing is a whole different mind set than cruising.
I came up the coast on Sunday, via I-95, something I rarely do in mid summer. In Southern Maine, a massive number of the cars with out of state plates were headed south - homeward.
Made me think, for every -one- boat that cruises through my sailing grounds, 10,000, or maybe 30k(?), come along the coast in cars. There's a hundred thousand(?) beds along the way, and they take nearly all of them right now. There's thousands of restaurants, and they're all full. If locals see an empty parking space in Camden, they just take it, then decide if they to get out of their car for something.
Yet where I sail, is always off season.
