I went through the narrowest part of a mass of that stuff in Muscle Ridge Passage

The section that I tried was only about 10' deep -- instead of about 30' or more. The section didn't really allow much choice to move to port or starboard. I saw some flotsam amongst the stuff (cups, bottles, branches) on either side of me -- but not where I went through.

We were motoring at about 8.5 knots across the ground (w/ the current).

Some of that got immediately attached to the keel and rudder (and maybe the prop/shaft, etc.

The speed dropped to about 7 knots. There was no vibration, but you knew something happened! I eased-off, kicked the max prop in reverse, then forward (no change immediately, because the prop wasn't the issue). A view weaves with the rudder and slowly the stuff "let go".

If we were sailing at lower speed, it might have been a different story if that stuff got wrapped-up. Then you might have a hard time clearing it.
