I got a pair of DAX handles maybe 6 years ago, and used to love them. I've taken pretty good care of them, and tried to keep salt from hardening in the delicate locking mechanism, but this year they've both crapped out. The locking mechanism does not move its full range, and whatever goes on inside isn't working as it should. There doesn't seem to be any way to access the innards without probably ruining it. I hoped to ask DAX if there's any way to repair them, but it appears DAX is no longer in business, at least judging from their non functioning website.

I believe the Lewmar One-touch handles were licensed from DAX but I'm reluctant to lay out the money for another pair if this is a common problem. I love the concept of the one-touch but the locking mechanism seems too delicate and susceptible to corrosion in the aluminum/SS mix. Glad I still have my ancient Lewmar and Barient locking handles.
