The lead builder of the boat that took it all at the Newport Show, was casting for Mackerel

last night, down in the harbor. I overheard a friend congratulate him. Grandson of Joel White, Sam is a very skilled builder. ARABESQUE is for sure an ubber-wealthy toy. But Sam builds for the love of building, no matter who he's building for. It was great to hear his modest report of showing the boat. A young guy from Maine down in Glitzy Newport had some funny things to say,...

I caught Sam working after hours last year on some of ARABESQUE's details. Sam is a new father and lives in an apartment in town. He sails a 12' Shellback dinghy in the harbor, a great design by his grandfather, Joel White.
