The weather was as advertised, gale warnings posted Friday and Saturday, waves on Lake Erie to 10', whitecaps in the club basin breaking over the finger piers. Sideways rain all day Saturday, 43*. We hauled all the boats on the list each day including ours, unfortunately our new jack stands were too big. We cut off the tops as far down as we could which is just enough to get them in place. The mast is still up, one more winter. It will come down next fall for sure.
Yesterday was a whole different world, winds were down to about 6knts and the sun was shining. The winter cover is on.
I also removed that pesky mixing valve on the hot water tank and re-plumbed the system with one cold line into the tank and one hot line out of the tank. The valve found a new home on a dusty shelf in my workshop. It was interesting working with the Sea Tech PEX tubing and connectors. It also explains some of the intermittent water leaks we have been dealing with. When attaching a connector you push the PEX tubing all the way until it seats, then pull back gently, that locks the tubing in place by moving a sleeve out of the connector into the locked position. The final step is to place a "C" clip which keeps the sleeve out away from the fitting in the locked position. Unfortunately the Hunter plumbers only fitted some of the fitting with the C clips so the sleeve are free to move in and out. When in they can leak. I'll be ordering a few bags of clips for the spring refitting. In the photo the sleeve is in the unlocked position ready for the PEX to be inserted.
