The fiberglass cloth came out fine. A second fill coat nicely covered the cloth. Sanded the parts before assembly with a 5" RO Fein sander. 120 grit followed by 220 left it ready for paint. A perfectionist may have filled and faired but I'm happy. It's a very rugged surface that will hold up to the abuse the area gets.
Reassembled-epoxied-screwed, here's the well with the newly assembled template of the existing cockpit.
I nearly have the large bridge and aft deck pieces glued and fastened. It will make more sense soon.
