This visit, circumstances had us anchoring at the south end of the harbor.

All the visitor moorings were taken. There were some closer in but we'd spent a night there a few years back. It was rolley and busy. But the worst part, mosquitos! I can only recall a few locations that were as bad(like a spot on the Sheepscot River...). There is no option but to run below and put the screens in.

Biking around the island I assume that the large bog (Cranberry bog at one time perhaps?) that is partially tidal is the reason for the thick mosquitos. There's a lot of standing water inland.

At any rate, we were forewarned this visit and put the screens in early. Yet we didn't find the same thickness of mosquitos out where we were. The heavy boat traffic wake didn't seem to stretch over to our location. It was quite private and we had a nearby beach to land the dinghy on. Fairly long, pleasant row to the town dock. It's a beautiful interesting harbor to spend a few days.
