We have a closed cell foam with white mesh over them. They dry better, mildew less (or almost not at all unless you abuse them), etc. You don't sit on a wet soggy cushions and if you want put them below (as we do when we're off the boat), they're usually dry or you can put them vertically in the head or wherever to wick-out.
