Seems the only function of the keel grid was to transfer the keel loads into the hull. I helped build a boat about 14 yrs ago that had a similar keel grid (Jeremy knows the boat), but the loads were carried out to the shroud attachments. The hull was not part of the keel/mast/shroud load path - the hull just sort of gets dragged along for the ride - and it's a fun ride!
Makes me curious how Oyster carries the shroud loads into the hull. Another grid? And does Oyster beef up the hull between the two grids?????
