On Burano I saw many different colors of gondolas, I reckon to match the colorful houses.

I think they raced them. IIRC of course. All my photos are...somewhere not yet found from moving. I noticed that a popular square for loading tourists into gondolas was back up a long canal that had to be traversed. The square has a long stretch of steps to the water for ease of climbing aboard. Sorry no pics...
