He describes, so nicely in that piece, much of what I feel is my sailing life. And this place - our coastline, is both beautiful and still, a bit scary.
We are steeped in White (EB and his descendants) in the area. I sail one of his sons designs and often pass by and chat with his grandaughter, walking her son's(one of EB's great grandchildren in the area), new baby. In the carriage is EB Whites great-great grandson. And you have Whites in Belfast as well.
Today offered me a good window to step my mizzen and hang the booms. Torrential rain coming in a few hours (which meant all the docks were open), the wind was calm and my small but strong wife was available. It was a little tricky. Once we had the mizzen standing with me holding it, I remembered I built the new cockpit 1/2" higher than the old one. I had forgotten to loosen the 8 turnbuckles,... We got it done though.
