There were some episodes of poor sportsmanship that turned me off PHRF racing.

Those folks were rare but there always seemed to be one or two, in most of the races. Serious is ok, as long as un-serious people can enjoy the race their way.
It would be for fun for us, give me a handicap Dennis Conner couldn't win with, I don't care. 
We'll see. Not racing, is a lot of fun.
