A parent's job is to put themselves out of a job so it's great to see posts like Tom's below about kids getting out on their own. My daughter isn't quite ready to set off to the islands by herself yet but she is getting good at sailing her own boat.

Last weekend was the FruitBowl, a youth sailing regatta. A bunch of kids from our club went for the two days of coaching and then two days of racing. It's amazing to see how quickly they learn and how much fun they have doing it. Before you know it they are shoving off on their own.
