Are there any public lands or places you can go ashore on Long Island, Richard?

It's a fascinating island. Long and heavily wooded, it's mysterious as it slides by, mile and mile. There are not many houses on the island, at least visible from the shore. I was amazed when we climbed Blue Hill last year. You're only half way up when you're in Blue Hill.
