Security Alert - Critical iOS and Mac OSX Vulnerability

OT but many are affected, so to my friends here in CSBB - I sent out this notice to my customers and also want to inform you:

As a service to our clients and others who may be affected, this email is being sent to our Newsletter distribution.

Recently a devastating security flaw was found in iOS and OSX, and it is being exploited. The discovered flaw was a trio of “zero day” exploits that, if executed in the proper order, would allow a hacker to take total control over your iPhone or Computer. The hacker would literally have unrestricted access to all of your information, programs, and the device itself (including camera and microphone).

We are in the process of performing updates for Mac and iOS devices that are managed under our proactive care. Please let us know if you have any questions, whether or not we are currently managing your device.

The remainder of this email is detail information for readers who wish to do your own updates:
If you have an iPhone or iPad you can check your current Operating System version under Settings|General|About; and scroll to Version. If the device is running iOS version 9.3.4 or earlier, then you should perform an iOS update. (iOS 9.3.5 and above are patched.) Go to Settings|General|Software Update.

OS X 10.9 and lower are not affected by this. OS X 10.12 already has this fix in place. MACs running OS X El Capitan (10.11) and OS X Yosemite (10.10) can install Security Update 2016-001 10.11.6 for OS X El Capitan, and Security Update 2016-005 10.11.5 for OS X Yosemite. These are done by going to the App Store and clicking Updates. This update should not affect/break QuickBooks or other apps.

We hope you will find this information helpful.

Regards,
Larry
