My wife is still in Pennsylvania helping her daughter recover from surgery. I'm hanging out in Florida waiting for her to return. Today I pulled into a marina in Jacksonville where I will happily spend a week or two. It's the marina at Ortega Landing on the Ortega River. The facilities are all first rate. I'm paying $35 per day for a 40 foot boat. The includes water and electricity, free laundry, free ice, and a nice pool that I probably won't use. A Publix supermarket and West Marine are three blocks away. A highly recommended produce market is a little farther. The staff here couldn't be more helpful. The permanent liveaboards are friendly and helpful. If you're ever looking to kill some time in northern Florida, this is the place to do it.
