What, no photoday? In the dead of winter, sun is good for you.

I converted an existing deck into a sun porch on a project. I call these 'Rustic French doors'. 8/4 pine stiles and rails, MDO panels and stock wooden casement sash(single glazed). They had to be custom sized to fit the height and odd widths formed by the existing posts, and fit the stock sash.

I like them! There's no heat on this porch on a bookstore. We're trying to make the space usable without losing the porch feel. On a typical sunny day the temps are going into the 60's for a few hours(store hours). Our kids over the Xmas holiday.

Their real benefit will be realized in the spring and fall. I made them with the ability to open one or two as the temperature rises, and shut them again. And of course you want to open them all once it's nice out to get a view of the harbor(but if a south wind blows in, even in August, you might close a few).

I used 3/4" galvanized electrical conduit to keep people from crashing into the brook below.
