On September 26, I once again rounded up the crew for our annual trip down to the Boston Harbor Islands Regatta (BHIR). The BHIR is a charity race around the Boston Harbor Islands, with proceeds going to the Boston Harbor Islands Alliance. Funds are used for improving the harbor islands and public access to them.
97 boats crossed the starting line this year. It's a beautiful 12nm figure 8 course around Boston Light, past Graves Light, through the Narrows & past George's Island, and a loop around Rainsford Island, with the Boston skyline in the background all day. It's a beautiful pursuit style race full of classic old boats as well as modern racers. I wouldn't miss if for the world, and encourage all to join in.
