Hey Jeremy,
After Hurricane Hugo knocked that bridge down, I picked up a couple of deliveries from snowbirds who were unwilling to make the 45 mile or so jaunt from Winyah Bay down to Charleston outside...
Whoever scheduled this work sure didn't give much thought to the amount of waterway traffic passing through there that time of year, I'll bet those couple of weeks are historically one of the busiest times of the entire year for that bridge, lots of people planning to spend Thanksgiving somewhere between Charleston, Beaufort, Hilton Head, and Savannah... I'll bet the Chamber of Commerce in Georgetown will be happy, however, cruisers will be stacked up there like cordwood for the duration of the closure...
Hey, Jeremy - I see a money-making opportunity, here... How about we organize a Cruising Rally, we could call it the 'Round Cape Romain Carolina Cattle Drive...? (grin)
best regards,
Jon
