Entrance to Tracy Arm, Alaska. A 'bergy bit', about 8 feet long and about as high that we found beached (actually aground near the beach) when anchoring.
Seems that we got *just* a bit too close, believing the bergy bit was firmly aground, but the very minor waves from rowing the dinghy, upset the berg's delicate balance, it tipped, and scared the living shit out of us. ;-) This is the view from the beach, after going ashore. It may be a 'bergy bit', but it's probably thousands of pounds of ice, and it was just a bit too close our dinghy...way too close.
Glaciology 101...don't approach bergs closely...we knew that, but... ;-)
