I remember Bob Perry once saying that it was his opinion that it didn't make much difference if it was done right. As I remember he said he makes skeg hung rudders because people that cruise like them better. (hope I'm right on that Bob)

From the stories I've heard and if that's the case, there must be a lot of blade rudders that aren't done right. Haven't heard of any skeg hung rudders that fail.
