to multiply from m/s to knots multiply by 2 (actually 1.9, but 2 is close enough.) I don't know why the units on the picture are so, it's an american satellite.

one reason I posted the info is to indicate that 1. there are other options to Quikscat 2. windsat is a risk mitigation test for the next generation of u.s. weather satellites
